Free parking …with a catch

Brisbane City Council recently introduced free parking in Brisbane on all metered parking spaces to encourage people back into the city and boost trade of CBD-based businesses and make things easier for employees returning to offices in the CBD. The catch is you can’t stay all day – time restrictions still apply.

Here’s the statement from the council, which you can also read on their website

Free on-street parking

From Wednesday 9 February until further notice, all on-street metered parking spaces across Brisbane will be free to assist local businesses with their economic recovery and ease the transition for employees returning to the workplace.

Please note time restrictions still apply and will be enforced.

For example, in a 2P Meter 7am-7pm, Monday to Friday zone, customers can park for a maximum time of up to two hours then must remove their vehicle from the zone. Customers that overstay the parking limit may receive a fine.

Will this encourage you to drive into the city?
